My Journey

Hello, I'm David. I grew up in Arizona, studied history and information management, and began my career in dot com startups. Deeply unfulfilled, I pivoted into wilderness protection, helping protect 2 million acres of public lands across the US. Then my lifelong love of games led me to design a board game, and I raised nearly $150,000 on Kickstarter to self publish it.

Yet immediately upon achieving this success, I collapsed into a profound dark night of the soul. Something felt horribly wrong inside. Family and friends congratulated me on realizing my dream, but after mastering so much of what my culture told me was important—I felt completely empty, useless, and defeated. My soul cried out for something my culture could not provide.
